下記のとおり、遺伝学研究所の池尾先生によるセミナーを開催致します。池尾先生は分子進化学の専門家で、モデル動物からヒドラ、ウイルス果ては海洋メタゲノムに至る広汎な生物種を対象に遺伝子発現や比較ゲノムの切り口で進化学的解析を進めておられます。また、ゲノム医科学研究のための情報プラットフォーム整備や比較ゲノム解析ツールの開発も手がけておられます。今回は次世代シークエンサのデータを取り扱う際のさまざまな問題点とその解決法を実際の解析データとともに紹介して頂きます。講演は英語で行われます。奮ってご参加下さい。

要旨 Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology has become popular in the field of Life Sciences for covering wide areas from basic sciences to application sciences including medical science. The technology opened the new world to apply single-base comparison on the whole genome scale and also apply to multiple comparisons on the whole-genome comparison with different multiple massive information. For example, to detect candidate disease gene, now we use more than billions of short reads from different individuals for the purpose. At the same time, the size of data provided by the technology is growing even faster, because of ever-evolving new technologies. Generally, NGS system includes big computer systems for data analysis and handling. Since the very early stage when the goal of the development was to make realize the $1,000 Genome, it has been pointed out the requirement of the cost for informatics. Even after the success of decreasing the cost for sequencing under $1,000, we still need to pay the big cost for informatics and the step is definitely necessary to complete the process. To fill this gap and to facilitate the usage of the massive NGS data, the careful choice of fitting tools as well as the establishment of the easy access system for data analysis are necessary, because there are so many information tools available for NGS data analyses with different algorithms. We are now running “Data analysis Center for NGS” as the activity of “Cell-Innovation Project”. In this talk, I will show our recent activities as 1) an example of the solution for such a problem and also show 2) some examples of evaluation and comparison of analysis tools. Through this activity I also show more practical examples of genetic analyses by using NGS data.
