Professor Yukiko Gotoh Receives the Japan Academy Prize!
This year, Professor Yukiko Gotoh (Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo), one of the Principal Investigators of the Grant-in-Aid for Transformative Research Area (A) “Decoding the Epigenetic Code for Cell Fate Determination” (Epicode), has received the 2026 Japan Academy Prize. The Japan Academy Prize is one of Japan’s most prestigious academic awards, presented to researchers with outstanding scholarly achievements. Professor Gotoh was honored for her pioneering work identifying signaling pathways that regulate cell fate.
Professor Gotoh has long advanced research on the molecular mechanisms regulating cell proliferation and differentiation during development and tissue formation, making major contributions to understanding the signaling networks that govern cell fate decisions, particularly in neural stem cells. She also plays a leading role in the Epicode research area as a principal investigator. We sincerely congratulate Professor Gotoh on this distinguished honor and look forward to her continued scientific contributions.
